Make Ahead Christmas Cookies
Hi Reader,
Get a head start on your holiday baking this year with make-ahead Christmas cookies! Spacing out your baking sessions can make the season feel a little less hectic, and it ensures that homemade treats are always on hand. These are my favorite cookies to prepare ahead of time and enjoy throughout December.
Make-Ahead Tips: Each of the recipes below can be baked weeks in advance. Once fully cooled, I store the cookies in an airtight container in the freezer. When ready to serve or decorate, simply let them thaw at room temperature.
#1: Gingerbread Cookies
"Absolutely amazing gingerbread! The best I’ve ever made or eaten. I make them every year for Christmas." - Jo
"My favorite gingerbread recipe! I make in large batches and freeze, then pull out the dough to make when I want these. Very good!!" - Natalie
#2: Sugar Cookies
"I LOVE this recipe!!! I used margarine that was all I had they turned out fabulous. Thank you!" - Nancy
"Just wanted to say that this is my go to recipe whenever I want to bake shaped cookies to frost! I follow directions to a T! I usually freeze them for a week or two until it’s time to frost them a day or so before my party. Saves me so much time! Thank you for sharing. This may be the third or fourth year with this recipe!" - Tessa
#3: Pecan Sandies
"I would give this 12 stars. It’s that good! Thank you for a yummy cookie. All I heard was OMG!" - Terry
"I made these but instead of using pecans, I used chopped up toffee. Delicious!" - Debbie
#4: Magic Cookie Bars
These magic cookie bars are rich, chewy, and a big hit every single time! They feature layers of graham cracker crust, pecans, and chocolate chips, all drenched in sweetened condensed milk and topped with coconut flakes. The result is a crunchy, creamy, and utterly irresistible dessert.
#5: Peanut Butter Blossoms
These are the softest peanut butter blossoms you will ever enjoy! Made with my original peanut butter cookie recipe, these peanut butter cookies wrapped in sparkly sugar and topped with a Hershey's Kiss are one of the best cookies for Christmas!
#6: No Roll Sugar Cookies
"After trying several different recipes, my family voted this their favorite. So good and easy to bake. I used butter in them. This recipe will definitely be a keeper & one for my recipe box. I will bake these throughout the year, not just at Christmas. Thanks for sharing!" - Krista
"I just made these with butter. Awesome. The first oven batch did not flatten out as much. Second batch in the oven I flattened them before I baked. Even more awesome. I did put the sugar on them. Reminds me of my childhood. Thanks so much for the recipe. Will be using this for years to come." - Melissa
#7: Candy Cane Cookies
These candy cane cookies are an absolute treat! They’re rich, dense, and bursting with the flavors of butter and peppermint. Red and white cookie dough flavored with peppermint extract twist together to make these Christmas treats. They’re easy to make and a complete crowd-pleaser!
#8: Gingersnaps
These soft and chewy ginger snap cookies are sure to bring you into the fall holiday spirit! This old fashioned cookie recipe is made even better with a sprinkle of sugar before you bake them.
Favorite Comment This Week
This mac and cheese is amazing! I was looking for a crock pot recipe for Thanksgiving to free up my stove/oven, and decided to try this! I am so happy I did! ...Everyone loved this recipe! Adding a little milk when reheating makes it taste just like it did fresh from the crock pot! Thank you Lynette for sharing this recipe! This will be a staple on our Thanksgiving table for years to come!
